SPAD: We will seize vehicles of e-hailing services found breaking the law
KUALA LUMPUR: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) will not hesitate to impose punitive measures including the seizure of vehicles belonging to e-hailing service operators or their drivers found violating the law.
It also recommended that Uber reviewed the screening of their drivers urgently.
"When the e-hailing regulation is approved by Parliament, service operators will be obliged to adopt safety standards and provide the highest quality of service," it said in a statement on Saturday.
SPAD issued the statement in response to a case of a passenger who was allegedly robbed by an Uber driver in Puchong on May 21, saying that the Commission views the matter seriously.
The Commission commended the police for their swift action in arresting the 22-year-old driver to allow further investigations, adding that it would give full cooperation if necessary. - Bernama
