It is getting very dangerous in Spore. With plenty of desperados now on this tiny red dot. One is not even safe in down town Spore.:(

I notice that the media avoids identifying the race of the culprit & victim but I would guess that the man arrested was a foreigner because he was at a hotel.

Man arrested for attempted rape, robbery at Orchard Road



SINGAPORE: A 52-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a woman before robbing another on the same day, the police said in a media statement on Tuesday (Mar 14).

Police said they were alerted to the first case at 12.50pm on Sunday. A 27-year-old woman said a male stranger covered her face with a towel and pushed her into a hotel room along Orchard Road. "Following a struggle, the unknown man fled the room," police added.

At about 5.50pm that day, a 48-year-old woman reported that an unknown man entered a lift with her at a shopping outlet along Orchard Road and used a towel to cover her face. He attempted to grab her handbag and after a struggle, fled with the woman's mobile phone, police said.

Officers from Tanglin Division, the Criminal Investigation Department and Police Intelligence Department worked together to identify the suspect. He was arrested within 24 hours of the attempted rape.

Police said the man will be charged in court on Wednesday for attempted aggravated rape and robbery with hurt.

I know that there is another thread which reveals that the police have arrested the alleged desperado. Just wanted to point out that the media i.e. Straits Times is still trying to cover up by not naming names or showing any pictures:rolleyes:

No wonder the readership of the Straits Times has fallen.

The only time they will reveal a name is if the person is a Sporean:mad: Why are they trying to demonised Sporeans & ignore crimes committed by foreigners:confused:

After a struggle, the man fled the room.

Police were investigating this case when they received a second report, at 5.53pm, from a 48-year-old woman about the same man.

He had allegedly entered a lift with her at a shopping outlet along Orchard Road, when he used a towel to cover her face and tried to grab her handbag. The woman struggled, but the man fled with her mobile phone.

After investigations, officers from the Tanglin Division, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Intelligence Department (PID) identified the suspect and arrested him within 24 hours of the first report.

The aggravated nature of the case "necessitated swift investigative actions from the onset, resulting in us cracking the case expeditiously", said Mr Sekher Warrier, the director CID (covering), senior assistant commissioner of police.
