dey r lucky ... their side of ze bracket got no word cup winners, euro winners ... all big names on ze other side ...Portugal will face either Wales or Belgium in the semi final. Wales can upset Belgium, if not play into ET and penalties. If Belgium can beat Wales then also fine because then either Portugal or Belgium will be eliminated.
Luck has nothing to do with it. It is skill. Against Hungary, Portugal conceded two set piece goals through deflection. That, you can call bad luck. But they fought back to tie 3-3. That is skill. If you play 120 mins of football and the game is still 1-1, that is not luck. U had skill in defending too. Otherwise, the Poles would habe score a few goals. As well, when the Portugal goalie made the penalty save, that was skill too. He read the shooter right and made the save. Not luck.

Italy defeating Germany is never an upset. These are the two most successful football teams in Europe, bar none.

In a Germany vs Italy match, Germany are never the favourites. If A has never beaten B, how can B beating A be an upset?
