According to Ms Sun, the police also found a piece of paper on the floor that seemed to be a debt collector's note, with a name and address.

SINGAPORE - A 27-year-old man has been arrested by the police for his suspected involvement in loansharking activities around Jurong and Hougang.

An initial report lodged with the police on March 29 about a Jurong West residential unit vandalised with paint and affixed with a loanshark-related note led police to establish his identity through images from Police Cameras (POLCAMs) and ground enquiries.

The suspect was arrested at Woodlands Crossing on April 10, the police said in a statement Sunday (April 10)

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have carried out similar acts of harassment at Hougang housing estate.

Under the act, first-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years and mandatory caning of up to six strokes.
