Introduction
Diablo III is an action role-playing game that takes place throughout the dark fantasy world of Sanctuary.

You play a hero who engages in fast-paced combat that tests your reflexes and rewards tactical decisions. As you slay hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, you grow in experience and ability, learning new skills and acquiring items of incredible power.

THE STORY SO FAR
The demons of the Burning Hells have long desired to invade the realm of men. To this end, a powerful group of demon lords known as the Lesser Evils exiled their brethren, the Prime Evils, from the Hells and sent them to the human world of Sanctuary.

War came with them. The Prime Evils—Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal—began corrupting humans, twisting them into dark servants, and poisoning their minds with false promises of power and wealth. They planned to use these souls in their ongoing battle against the angels of the High Heavens.

Brave heroes banded together and managed to slay the Prime Evils, though the demons’ influence left parts of the world scarred and broken. Thousands of people perished, towns were burned to ash, and an entire nation fell to ruin when the Worldstone was destroyed. This ancient relic once kept Sanctuary safe from the armies of demons and angels, but it has been shattered, and its protection is no more.

Today, few survivors tell tales of the Prime Evils, and many people on Sanctuary are unaware that the Worldstone ever existed. They remain ignorant of the growing danger that the Worldstone’s absence places them in, content to till their fields and sell their wares in relative peace. But those who saw the Prime Evils’ devastation firsthand remember that two of the Lesser Evils yet live in the Burning Hells…Azmodan, the Lord of Sin, and Belial, the Lord of Lies. These great demons have not forgotten the world of Sanctuary—indeed, they see a chance to seize it for themselves.

Now, a star has fallen from the heavens—a grim omen that heralds the End of Days. Sanctuary’s frightened inhabitants are turning to abandoned legends and prophecies for answers. They have no hope against a full onslaught from the Burning Hells. The heroes of the past are gone or dead.

A new champion must rise…

CHOOSING YOUR CLASS
In Diablo III, you play one of five different hero classes. Each hero is different in appearance, style, powers, and abilities, so choosing your class is much more than a cosmetic decision.

BARBARIAN
Diablo-3-Barbarian.jpg
The Barbarian is a massive, heavily-armed warrior, a wanderer from a tribe that once guarded the sacred Mount Arreat.

Fights savagely with melee weapons.
Utilizes brute strength to wield mighty two-handed weapons, a weapon in both hands, or a weapon and shield.
Builds up Fury when taking or dealing damage, then unleashes it in devastating attacks.

DEMON HUNTER
demon_hunter_diablo_3_by_evilflesh-d3251c1.jpg
The Demon Hunter is the survivor of a demonic attack who has dedicated body and soul in an unending quest to rid the world of the influence of the demons that threaten Sanctuary.

Deals death to foes with long-range weaponry like grenades, bows, and crossbows.
Remains mobile with avoidance powers, and snares enemies in place with careful traps.
Relies on Hatred, a swiftly regenerating inner fire, and Discipline, a moderate reservoir of marksmanship skill.

MONK
diablo-3-monk.jpg
The Monk is a holy warrior, a servant of the divine whose body has been honed into a deadly weapon.

Strikes down evil with lightning-quick fists and unique melee weapons like punch daggers and monk staves.
Calls upon the power of his thousand and one gods to protect, shield, heal, and banish.
Generates Spirit, an inner strength that fuels the monk’s mobility and dodging in combat.

WITCH DOCTOR
diablo_III_12693095819831.jpg
The Witch Doctor weaves the power of the spirits of the Unformed Land, summoning creatures from beyond the grave.

Summons frightful undead, vermin, and other creatures for protection and offense.
Uses destructive poison, acid, and fire attacks.
Powers spells and summons with Mana, a slow-accruing but deep well of energy.

Wizard
diablo-3-wizard-02.jpg
The Wizard is an arcane prodigy who commands time and the elements in the pursuit of destiny and power.

Wields arcane magics, manipulating space, time, and the natural and mystic elements.
Freezes, incinerates, and restrains foes.
Invokes magic rapidly with Arcane Power, a quickly-regenerating reservoir of power.

COMBAT & SKILLS
Skills are the legendary powers that define heroes: the ground-shaking strikes, waves of flame, and frightful invocations that flash across the battlefield, scattering groups of minor demons and wracking Hell’s most murderous lieutenants with pain.

Each class has its own unique skills, specialized to complement that class’s particular talents. For example, the Barbarian can use the Whirlwind skill to spin in an arc and attack all adjacent enemies at one time, perfect for taking on an entire group of monsters and smashing them into gory paste.

Some skills are defensive in nature, while others are utility-focused. The overwhelming majority of your skills, however, are attack skills, suited for killing different types or numbers of enemies quickly.

RESOURCES
Most skills are powered by your class resource, a limited reserve of strength, like your Life, that depletes as you use your most powerful attacks and abilities. You can keep your eye on that resource—and, by extension, how much power you have left to use your abilities—by glancing at the colored globe opposite your Life on your screen.

All classes possess their own unique resource.

Action Bar
DganY.jpg
The action bar is a visual representation of your hero’s health, active skills, class resource, and other vital information.

On your screen, you’ll see a bar made up of small icons. This is your action bar. The action bar contains your active skills, class-specific powers that help you slay demons faster or stay alive longer. It also displays powerful limited-use items; specifically, healing potions. Using these abilities and items carefully can mean the difference between life and death in tough battles. During multiplayer games, additional action bars will show up on your screen so that you can monitor the status of your allies.

ATTRIBUTES
Each hero in Diablo III possesses immense power—incredible muscle, speed, sturdiness, or brilliance—that allows them to defy darkness. These core qualities are called attributes, numbers that represent just how potent a particular hero is in their areas of expertise. Here’s a brief overview of heroic attributes in Diablo III:

Strength: The primary attribute for Barbarians. Strength increases Barbarian damage, and increases Armor for all classes.
Dexterity: The primary attribute for Demon Hunters and Monks. Dexterity increases Demon Hunter and Monk damage, and increases Dodge Chance for all classes.
Intelligence: The primary attribute for Witch Doctors and Wizards. Intelligence increases Witch Doctor and Wizard damage, and increases resistances for all classes.
Vitality: Increases Life, the total amount of damage you can suffer before dying.
Toughness: The amount of damage you can take from enemy attacks, derived from your Life, Armor, Resistances and Dodge score.
Damage: Indicates the average amount of damage you deal with your attacks. Damage is derived from your equipped weapons, primary attribute, attack speed, and critical hit chance.
Healing: The amount of Life you recover every second. Your healing rating incorporates life restored through attacks, Health Globe bonuses, or ongoing Life per Second regeneration.

LIFE
resources.jpg
While you make every effort to dispatch and dismember your foes, they’ll be doing the same to you. If a monster hits you, your Life (represented in the red globe on your screen) will be reduced.

Your Vitality attribute (in conjunction with any passive skills or vitality-boosting gear you're using) dictates how much Life you have. You can recover lost Life quickly by snatching up health globes dropped by slain monsters.

MONSTERS
Many different monsters lurk in Sanctuary, and they will try to kill you in diverse ways. Some will spit acid or beat hurricanes at you from afar; others will lunge, hoping to knock you back and rip you apart before you can react.

Suffer no demon to live in your sight.
In addition to the massive variety of "normal" monsters roaming the land, you'll regularly come face-to-face with special monsters.

Champion monsters have their names displayed in blue. They travel in packs and are more powerful than regular monsters: they take more hits to kill, do more damage, and have abilities called affixes, which enable them to do things like teleport away from your attacks or unleash bolts of lightning when they're struck.

Rare monsters have their names displayed in yellow. Rare monsters have more Life than normal for their type, possess a special affix, and are usually surrounded by a pack of three to four minions who are weaker but possess similar abilities.

Unique monsters have their names displayed in purple. They're usually more powerful than champions: they have more health, do more damage, and often have multiple abilities.

Champion, rare and unique monsters give rewards commensurate to their increased difficulty: bigger health globes with greater healing power, more gold, and more (and often better) items.

At certain points in the game, you'll find yourself faced with truly frightening boss monsters: massive or otherwise extremely dangerous foes that overshadow all others. You will have to use all of your skill and cunning to defeat these monstrosities, and, if you're able to dispatch them, you'll earn tremendous rewards.

MONSTER AFFIXES
AFFIXES
Arcane Enchanted: Arcane enchanted monsters summon rotating beams of arcane energy which deal significant damage.

Avenger: Monsters with the avenger affix grow in power as other monsters in their group are slain — they can increase in damage, attack speed, total life, and other attributes.

Desecrator: Desecrator monsters conjure burning pools of hellfire beneath your feet. These pools surge after a few seconds, dealing immense damage if you don't move quickly to avoid them.

Electrified: Electrified monsters release bolts of electricity when struck, causing lightning damage on contact.

Extra Health: Monsters with extra health have substantially more Life (and, hence, survivability) than normal for monsters of their type.

Fast: Fast monsters move and attack much more quickly than their normal counterparts. They excel at chasing you down when you're wounded and use their increased speed to move around the battlefield.

Fire Chains: These monsters are linked together by chains of fire that burn anything they touch. Killing individual monsters in the group limits the length and mobility of the chain.

Frozen: Frozen monsters fill the air around them with exploding ice crystals. These explosions deal cold damage, slow, and freeze heroes caught in their blast radius.

Frozen Pulse: Monsters with the frozen pulse affix summon an icy sphere that deals heavy damage over time while it moves across the battlefield.

Health Link: Monsters with health link share damage and Life pools. Any damage dealt to an individual is split among all members of a group.

Horde: Hordes of monsters don't gain any particular abilities, but groups with the horde affix are larger than normal for their type.

Illusionist: Illusionist monsters create duplicates of themselves; these duplicates can deal damage while obscuring your true target.

Jailer: Monsters with the jailer affix can encase you in a prison, damaging and temporarily immobilizing you. You are vulnerable to attack while immobilized, but you can escape by using certain defensive skills.

Knockback: Successful hits from monsters with knockback send you flying away from them, interrupting your attack and slowing your movement.

Missile Dampening: Missile dampening monsters project an aura that slows your incoming projectiles, making ranged attacks less effective.

Molten: Molten monsters trail burning lava wherever they walk. Shortly after they die, their bodies explode into high-damage gouts of fire.

Mortar: Monsters with the mortar affix lob volatile globes of fire that can deal extreme damage to you at range. Move close to avoid their attacks.

Nightmarish: Successful attacks from nightmarish monsters can cause you to lose control of your character and flee for a few seconds.

Orbiter: Orbiter monsters are able to cover entire areas in an array of electric balls. These balls electrocute anything they touch.

Plagued: Plagued monsters leave toxic puddles in their footsteps. Standing in these puddles - even to attack the plagued - will deal increasing amounts of poison damage.

Poison Enchanted: Poison enchanted monsters summon toxic globules that spread in a cross pattern and leave a damaging trail in their wake.

Reflect Damage: Monsters with this affix deal a portion of the damage they take back to their attackers. Their reflection power turns on and off over time, but you'll be able to tell that it's active if you keep an eye on them.

Shielding: Shielding monsters can conjure a temporary magic shield that makes them immune to damage.

Teleporter: Monsters with the teleporter affix can disappear and reappear in different locations on the screen at will, both to make surprise attacks and to escape.

Thunderstorm: Monsters with the thunderstorm affix use potent lightning strikes to shock enemies from a distance.

Vampiric: Vampiric monsters feed off of your injuries. They recover a portion of all damage they deal as Life.

Vortex: Monsters with the vortex affix can pull you towards them, interrupting your attacks and keeping you dangerously close.

Waller: Monsters with the waller affix create walls that can trap you or block your path to the monster summoning them. Summoned walls will vanish after a few seconds - if you can afford to wait.

Wormhole: Monsters with the wormhole affix tear a pair of magical rifts in the battlefield. After several seconds, the wormholes emerge, and all heroes near one wormhole are teleported to the other.

OBJECTS
SHRINES
shrines.jpg
Shrines are former sacred places, now desecrated. But, unlike many random surprises in the world, they’re always a welcome sight.

When you select a desecrated shrine, it becomes purified, and you (and your allies) receive a temporary buff – an enhancement to your abilities – that persists for a short period of time. Each shrine you find will only provide its effects once, and you cannot receive multiple concurrent buffs from shrines of the same type. Some shrines are cursed; selecting them can result in unexpected monster attacks and other dangers (alongside their standard rewards).

Here are the shrines you’ll encounter, along with their benefits:

Enlightened: You gain 25% increased experience from monster kills.
Frenzied: Your attack speed increases by 25%.
Blessed: You reduce all incoming damage by 25%.
Fortune: You gain 25% increased magic and gold find rate.
Empowered: You have 100% increased resource gain, and 50% reduced cooldown time.
Fleeting: You gain 25% increased movement speed and increase your pickup radius by 20 yards.

HEALING WELLS
healing-wells-thumb.jpg
Healing wells, bright red vessels that look like pools of blood, can completely restore your Life (and the Life of your allies). Once it’s used, a healing well cannot quickly be used again, though it will refill in time.

DESTRUCTIBLES
Diablo34.jpg
A number of inanimate objects can be destroyed to your advantage. Furniture, bookshelves, and pots can be smashed; doors or gates that bar your way can be shattered; and rolling logs, falling chandeliers, and flimsy walls can be used against your enemies if you break them at the right time.

CHESTS
Guild-Mission-Chest.jpg
Chests hold weapons, money, and other treasure. They come in diverse shapes and sizes, including unclaimed corpses, forgotten bags, tree stumps, and literal trunks of treasure. Select to open them up (or roll them over) and reap their riches. Some chests are cursed; they’ll erupt with more than just loot. Be warned.

POOLS OF REFLECTION
pool-of-reflection1.jpg
Pools of reflection (PC) give your hero the capacity to improve at an accelerated rate. Gaze into one, and you’ll be provided with a bonus to all of your experience gains. Look through multiple pools, and their benefits will stack (up to a point). Bonus experience from pools of reflection persists even if you log out of Diablo III, but disappears when you die. Reflect, and then survive.

Diablo 3 is a shitty game... a colossal flop.

The Blizzard of today is the money-minded Blizzard-Activision, it's nothing like the Blizzard of the 1990s and early 2000s. The brilliant people who made Diablo 1 and 2, and the original music composer have moved on elsewhere.

Big game publishing companies (Blizzard-Activision, EA, Ubisoft) are the reason why gaming is on the decline: DLCs, 'freemium play', making every game 'social' and 'casual', no LAN, harsh digital copyright protection, screwing up the storyline etc.

See how EA has fucked up the Command and Conquer franchise, and how Ubisoft has fucked up the Might and Magic franchise. EA has even fucked up Plants vs Zombies 2 with greedy DLCs... it was bound to happen after PopCap games was acquired.

Once again, the wants of the shareholders supercede the needs of the customers. Sounds very familiar, especially for those in Singapore.

The least you can do is to stop giving your money to these scummy companies. Learn to vote with your wallet.

new expansion pack is out. Auction house is closed down but thank god i already got really awesome items.

Did you know ppl were making money out of auction house.

Pay say 20USD for example to get say 50 million gold to purchase legendary items in auction house.

Ppl were bidding over 200 million upwards up to 1 billion of gold for really good items.

Some websites made some good real money from selling gold, gems and legendary items to gamers.

Well all of that has stopped now and now you are able to distribute your paragon level to player attributes. Not bad at all. Found a lengendary item on my return to the new upgrade and someone even gave me an item when i just asked him.

Yeah I agree Blizzard screwed up earlier with their $$$ minded approach to D3, i.e the auction house. But they are brave enough to admit their decisions sucked and have repudiated whats improper. That's why I have reserved a copy of D3+ROS at Cyberactive. I had refrained from buying D3, just playing it in friends' homes because I have read many negative reviews on it by reputable gaming sites.

I have playing the original Diablo, Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. All of these games are incredibly fun and taught me many stuff applicable to REAL LIFE. I.E. the various tactics humans use to screw each other in the workplace/school.

Enjoy your D3 bro!
