Woman jailed three months for cheating

A Malaysian woman was jailed for three months on Friday for two counts of cheating.
Janaki Krishnan, 46, had pleaded guilty to deceiving Mr Mageswaranrao Ramaloo, 24, by making him believe that a sum of $1,000 was requested by lawyer Ignatius Joseph at Ann Siang Road on Nov 9, 2010.
She also admitted to a second charge of cheating the Malaysian of $1,500 on Nov 11 that year.
The court heard that Mr Mageswaranrao needed a lawyer to represent his brother in a criminal case.
