Re: Here is today's Tempines MRT video

That said, the situation at Bugis Junction also reflects how sinkified sinkies are. There's a broad underpass less than 50 meters away that lead to MRT station and bus stop. Why insist on cramming with 200 people in the middle of the road? There're escalators. You don't even have to climb half a flight of stairs. Just walk a few more steps.

Member Ash007 also mentioned the same underpass. But that one actually exits at the opened car park where Johore Road (Ah Gua Keng) used to be and where the Temp Hawker Center used to be. It is actually more deserted compared with the dense crowed Bugis Village, which is apart from that underpass exit divided by a huge busy Rochor Rd, and crossing that road is yet another quite Jia Lat and unsafe traffic light crossing, due to the construction of new MRT there.

Exiting there from that underpass is what most pedestrians won't do, especially on rainy days, the people are all stuck there, with no sheltered walkway to get them anywhere.

Bugis Village is connected to the Albert Mall, NAFA campus La, Salle Campus, 四马路观音堂, Albert St market, OG, Bencoleen, Sim Lim Sq, 福禄寿 Illuma etc, so there is huge amount of people to and from the MRT station via Bugis Village. Underpass from MRT to Bugis Village is thus necessary and justified.

Currently there is CNY market going on at Albert Mall. Quite congested.

As it is there is already a relief from danger at that trouble spot. It is however still not a long term solution.

LTA better have something on their drawing board for the huge amount of pedestrians in that area.
