Mostly HK in the 80s who conquered Van. New wave of PRC conquering Van in recent 10 years now. It's gotten so bad that I know people who left Van for Toronto because of lack of good jobs there and the expensive realty. Globe and Mail did a recent coverage of how Van realtors got greedy and used...

Infidelity in Organisations - the Singaporean notion

All's good on my end. I'm in Ontario. Half wishing I had Vancouver as my backyard but the property prices there are ridiculous. On the bright side, many interesting places in/around Ontario to visit.

Mainly economic reasons. 33 million in population for a landmass that rivals the US at 300 million. Every province needs or wants newcomers. The immigration criteria is tough enough as it is and being a newcomer without that much vaunted "Canadian experience" puts you at a disadvantage. So those...

Infidelity in Organisations - the Singaporean notion

I am late to the party. Welcome back, Scroobal. I'm one of those Canadian Singaporeans who's been in the woodwork for a while. Posting again because you're back. There was an SG50 party recently in Canada (Mississauga specifically). I had been invited by a friend to tag along. SG High Comm...

Well, you'll never see the Straits Times cover a report against the government the way Globe & Mail does. The freedom of the press here is so refreshing compared to Singapore and I appreciate the diversity of opinions and coverage.

My Canadian friends have absolute disdain for the Harper government and express it vocally. I was a little taken aback by how vehement they were as I'm still learning about the various parties.

I look back at the last few years I've been in Canada and think of how this thread contributed to my preparation tremendously and I am thankful for it. Now when I look back at *Singapore* from halfway across the world, I feel like I don't recognize the majority of Singaporeans who respond in...

Ex-S'poreans returning to Singapore to work

Toronto Chinatown supermarkets at Spadina and Dundas stock the following that I recall: - Prima Taste spices (hainanese chicken rice, laksa, nasi lemak, mee goreng, etc) - Glory Catering Kaya (2 types: the normal pandan and the golden colour Honey type) - Yeo's (Malaysia) Chicken Curry ready to...

Very cold tonight and it isn't even Winter yet

Don't really know but I'll check out that area. Heard there's a smaller Chinatown that stretch of main road. I'm real suaku about east of DVP area. Btw, I went to Lion City restaurant in Mississauga - food is very close to home taste. Have you tried it?

I was there on Saturday. Jogged all the way to Molson Amphitheatre and turned back east again. Went to Queen and Bathurst on Sunday and it was absolutely crowded but beautiful, balmy day. Yes the hail was a joke actually - it didn't really happen in downtown. Maybe the east had it more.

Environment Canada issued a thunderstorm alert today but it fizzled out for a few curtains of rain. The spring flowers were really beautiful, especially along the waterfront parks during the weekend.

    The greatest threat to SG

Local, "born-and-bred" Singaporeans. We have yet to, and may likely never, have a large enough population of Singaporeans who can think and act differently to ensure the survival of the country for future generations. As much as people want to assign blame to SG politics, there is the larger...

Finding: SG Lawyers Quickly Being Replaced by FTrash Lawyers...Who Did They Vote For?

The irony of the statement is that they "...must be allowed..." No difference from everyone else who "...must be allowed..." Whatever faction or occupation Singaporeans belong, the majority will not stand up for their rights. The average Joe can throw eggs at the lawyers and vice-versa to no...
