    Desa Tebrau

Some people think that staying in JB's version of Toa Payoh (Desa Tebrau) is worse than staying in Yio Chu Kang (BDO). One man's meat is another man's poison.

    Desa Tebrau

Desa Tebrau is nearer to cheap groceries/hawkers in Johor Jaya, nice restaurants in Mount Austin, and mega malls in Aeon Tebrau, Tesco, future Ikea. It's a gd, safe choice.

These shops need to do reinstatment because of the revamp lah... Big players like Zara, TWG, SPAO are coming into Aeon Tebrau. Aeon Tebrau together with City Square are the 2 top malls in JB, and Aeon Tebrau will only get better when Ikea opens by end 2017.

Aeon Tebrau is undergoing a massive expansion exercise. That's why many affected stores are closed lah... its the same if you go Vivocity or Tiong Bahru Plaza now. The malls' are being revamped to add more capacity, not because of poor business!

Perhaps for would-be SG retirees, the prospect of renting out their HDB for S$2-2.5k, while staying in a double storey house in Johor, is too great to resist?

RTS rapid transit system linking Johor and Singapore (MASTEEL)

I not so optimistic it can be done by 2022. Thomson Line has already started construction (passed all the feasibility studies), but it will only be fully ready in 2022. 2019 is for 3 stations only. 3 year construction timeline is only possible if China state owned company is awarded the...

RTS rapid transit system linking Johor and Singapore (MASTEEL)

http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/second-phase-of-study-on-mrt-extension-to-johor Copied from the other thread. It's also an important piece of news, and probably will mean that RTS will launch faster than HSR. Maybe around 2023-24?

Makes sense to have the shuttle as an interchange for the domestic service. Else the domestic service will be useless. Great job by Khaw and Auntie Josephine.

FYI, the detailed engineering study awarded to Aecom is 1 of the most expensive in LTA history. I will be v surprised if Aecom cant figure out the alignment, given the massive engineering projects they have undertaken over the years. Just google for their background. Leave it to the experts to...

RTS rapid transit system linking Johor and Singapore (MASTEEL)

Actually the RTS is in the detailed engineering phase now, so it's more advanced than BRT or HSR, in terms of project progress. But yes, I think HSR will catch up if it's to be built by China. 3 years can complete liao from initial tender awarded under China......

JB charging RM20 for foreign car visiting ? Is it confirm ?

Speaking as someone with considerable experience, the previous hike did have some impact. It basically killed the weekday off-peak hour jams at the causeway permanently. Before the hike, the causeway was jammed throughout the day (peak & off peak).

Many people miss out on an important point in property investment: the ability to leverage. Even if property prices stay stagnant for the next 10 years, if you can rent out your property to cover the monthly loan installments, you will be far better off than putting money in the bank. On the...

    HSR and RTS Discussion

This year, Najib's 4 eyes meeting with LHL is a bit late; probably both sides are trying to finalise the HSR MOU. I find both SG and JB retail/F&B are quiet atm, probably needs some stimulus to get it going again.
