Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

It really is all very dynamic. Emergency evacuations have their own peculiar hazards and to evacuate when stuff on the ground is burning and also with fire in the wing area makes things more complicated and unsafe. Staying in the plane under those circumstances is also very scary because you...

Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

Airplane turned back due to the oil problem but it seems there was some kind of fuel leak later on. Latest on the ground was that there was fluid and some fire on the ground so thats why the evacuation was not carried out immediately until all the fires were put out and the whole area foamed...

Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

Yes indeed, I guess too many things can go wrong that have not been foreseen by the manufacturers. They need reports from the operators of their planes to do reviews and come up with procedural and manufacturing changes. Usually these are minor stuff affecting comfort, economy and efficiency but...

Inflight as the oil cools and lubricates the system it gets heated up, but it is then quickly cooled by a fuel/oil heat exchanger. The cold fuel gets heated by the hot oil so there is less likelihood of freezing, and the hot oil gets cooled by the fuel.

Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

The oil can leak in a manner that it collects at the rear end of the engine and pools there. While the plane was in the air, that area is relatively 'cool' due to altitude and whatever cooling factor cause by airflow. On the ground however both these are lost and the temperature of the engine...

Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

In this situation, the tower ( ATC ) and the pilots would be in radio contact. ATC would also be in radio contact with the guy in charge of the fire services. At times this guy would assess the fire from the outside as the fire engines are heading towards the plane. If, in his assessment there is...

Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

It was an oil leak so there was no need to dump fuel or divert to another airport. The best thing to do is to turn back to where you have the best support in terms of engineering and passenger care which in this case was Singapore.

Serious SG51 SIA.EX 222 pax mass escaped @ Changi Air port from BURT SQ368! HUAT!

From what I gathered so far, the crew did everything correctly and professionally regarding the air turnback. The engine caught fire after the landing and as to why the crew did not evacuate immediately, they must have had their reasons. Sometimes it could be Air Traffic Control advising them...

Serious SIA Planes is getting more unsafe!

You are posting irresponsibly if you claim SIA's planes are getting more unsafe and show that image. Why don't you post what happened to the SIA plane in the image above? I'm sure you know the facts.

    Near collision for SIA plane!

It was a runway incursion by the Korean pilots. The SIA plane had been cleared for takeoff and therefore had the right of the runway. The Korean pilots either ignored ATC instructions or lost positional awareness and encroached.....either way its just a very very bad situation almost amounting...

Another reason why we should pay airline pilots bus driver salaries.

Ah that was years ago. You buy the kites from the mamar shop and then you make the string sharp by 'cheloping' it with crushed glass. Tie the 'traju' and then you go kite fighting.

I celebrated my 100th birthday a few weeks ago, so the Company thought that it was a opportune time to retire me while I ( and they ) were still ahead. So no more exotic Latin citius... altius... fortius for me....instead its now the more simple sit... eat...fart. Catch you soon.

Another reason why we should pay airline pilots bus driver salaries.

I have for the most part left the industry but from what I gather for this flight , both of the pilots were Captains.....one the Commander and the other acting in the capacity of Copilot. These situations can arise when there is a shortage of First Officers and 2 Captains are paired up to mount...

Malaysian Airlines Airbus flies wrong way for 1 hour, company files wrong flight plan

Re: Malaysian Airlines Airbus flies wrong way for 1 hour, company files wrong flight The final safety net in this saga is when the pilots insert the flight plan route into the computers, in this case the Flight Management and Guidance System. They would have seen the routing and should have...

Malaysian Airlines Airbus flies wrong way for 1 hour, company files wrong flight plan

Re: Malaysian Airlines Airbus flies wrong way for 1 hour, company files wrong flight Yes, the people who did the filing, ATC and the pilots are all to shoulder the blame on this one. Strange that so many safety layers were busted.
