Yes, because they have to be built by hand, and trued by hand. Stronger too.

So beautiful... I really enjoyed visiting Banff years ago, staying at Chateau Lake Louise in spring. The chipmunks there are super cute, super fat, and out of control! They kept running into the hotel for snacks, and weren't afraid of people. They would just flop down to snooze in the sun. The...

The Orca is suited for Singapore... after all, highest point is Bukit Timah at 163m. No need for powerful motor or high capacity battery! Gen3 probably just shipped semi-assembled. The spoked wheels will be stronger than the one-piece rims on the Orca.

SGD1600. https://mobot.sg/shop/electric-bicycles-ebike/orca-electric-bicycle/ It’s not the same as Costco model. One piece rims vs spoked, 250W motor vs 500W, etc.

Not quite the same. Motors, etc. different. Might or might not be the same.

Looks like you have mountain bikes. The fat tires will absorb some of your energy, so keep them inflated to the right pressure. They should have low enough gears. Plenty of videos about how to use gears properly. Here's one article: https://mountaintreads.com/guide-to-mountain-bike-gears/ If...

Another fun story... years ago, I bought something at a Costco in the US. Later that year, I was in Taiwan and actually returned it to them there. Costco in Taiwan didn't even sell the thing (I can't remember what it was now, but it wasn't expensive), but still honoured their return policy. I...

Best company ever. 15 years ago, I foolishly bought a king sized pillow top mattress from them. A year later, the mattress had developed a depression in the center (duh, I should have known better). My back was killing me, so out of desperation, I called, somewhat embarrassed, to ask if there...

No UL2272 certification, but they say their electronics monitors individual cells and also protects against over temp and over voltage, so you should be ok. They use a Bafang motor, which is well regarded. Better practice lifting heavy things though, it’s 28kg, par for the course with e-bikes.

Yes. UL2271 is an excellent safety standard for the battery assembly. Does it also have UL2272 certification for the electrical system as a whole? You want both.

Seems nice. Fat tires will be comfortable too.

    Thinking of getting E bikes

Yes! Also, mountain bikes tend to have lower gears available, because they're designed to be ridden uphill! You can work out your gear ratio by checking # of front teeth/# back teeth. The numbers will be on the sprockets.

Not your fault lah. I can guarantee that your bikes lowest gear was still too high. Granny gear for steep inclines would be around 17 to 18 gear inches. That means that for every revolution of your cranks, you only move 17 to 18". This is what you need to climb on a heavily loaded bike.

Very hard to tell as a consumer. One of my clients spent 9 months qualifying some cells from many China manufacturers for his company's devices. Repeated charge/discharge cycles, capacity tests over time for aging characteristics etc. Most were crap. Best thing that you can do as a consumer is...

    Thinking of getting E bikes

Long distance = 100's of km if not more. Multi day trips that might turn to multi week trips once the kids and business can fend for themselves. Finally got clearance from the house boss to do it by myself! Upslope no need assist as long as you have granny gears. Most retail bikes are geared...

I'm not an expert on e-bikes, but as a practicing EE, I'd pay very close attention to the source of the batteries and charge control circuitry. There's great potential to turn your backside into charsiew, or your house to ashes with badly designed or made cells and circuits.

This winter, I'm going to build up a bike for touring. My life long fantasy has been to go long distance bike touring. So, everything that requires reliance on power that cannot be obtained via a solar panel or dynamo is being struck off my build.

Telinga and mata same in orang asli taiwan, maori and jiu hu.

Late to the thread, but PNG orang asli appear to be Negrito rather than Polynesian. Probably from an earlier wave of human migration rather than the wave that originated from Taiwan. Also, on Sulawesi, there are monuments like those on Easter Island. Not to mention the homo floresiensis...
