When did our elections change to once in six years?

Of course they will try to give themselves more time, because for every month the minister holds his position he gets about $350,000 inclusive of performance bonus, thirteenth month pay, GDP allowance, etc, etc. So, nine months extra means they can earn about $3.5m extra.

When did our elections change to once in six years?

Ya, you are right abt that. But Nov 2011 is only the date they must dissolve parliament and the fresh election need only be held three months (at the latest) from that date. So, you can see, by this simple gerrymeandering, they can delay the required by nine months altogether. Very clever indeed.

When did our elections change to once in six years?

The election law has not changed, but the PAP has delayed the first parliamentary meeting to six months after the last election (which is the maximum delay allowed by law). So, under the law the next election is due only five years from that parliamentary meeting, i.e. in Feb 2012.

    Tan Howe Liang Receives $10,000

KNN, govt sure know how to insult local people. $10000 for local but $500000 for imported China FT. Just like when they double their own salaries but pay locals $100 rebate. Just like they raise GST to 7% and pay locals $50 rebate. We are not stupid anymore.
