China needs oil and mineral in order to sustain their manufacturing and supply chain. That's normal. But if you actually suck up too much surplus with all your regular trading partner, it's becoming very unsustainable.
Last time we have conquest and colonial power. But it's more to trade and trying to be good in what you do and you supply the services you are deemed good to other Nation. The others will come in and supply what you really need.
