President Trump’s jumbo tariffs on China threaten to create a new problem for a global economy already stressed over trade: a $400 billion deluge of Chinese goods looking for new markets.

Just now my senior colleague friend who is a smoker says it's about time all these fucking non smokers get a taste of what tariffs is like because he says he has been paying exorbitant tobacco taxes for more than 3 decades...

In Singapore, tobacco excise duties increased by 15% in 2023, with the current tax rate being 49.1 cents per cigarette stick, aiming to discourage tobacco consumption and generate additional revenue.

That means a packet of Marlboro 20 sticks you pay $9.42 taxes.:eek:

Smoking is a filthy habit. Only non smokers will know this. It stinks everything. Even the nose gets huge amount of booger. Best if you stop smoking.
As a drinker I had to tolerate all These stinking smoke blown to my face. Lucky there are indoor restrictions now.

By my calculations, I am paying about 70 cents a stick. And it costs only about one to two cents to make a stick. Anyway, I need to work harder to feed my habit. :biggrin:

Not only Chinese, the European, Japanese, Korea & rest of the world trying to find another customer to clear stock if their prices become uncompetitive compared to USA local manufacturers. Total world output for US consumption.
