TikTok parent, ByteDance sent an internal memo to employees transferred from China to Singapore, asking them to report their tax returns to Chinese tax authorities, three people familiar with the matter said.

Common practice. All US citizens working abroad have to remit income taxes back to the IRA, even if they have to pay taxes in their country of domicile as well.

EP need not pay levy but only pay their own income taxes to IRAS of Singapore.

So Beijing ask the Tik Tok staff (transferred from China to Singapore)must pay their taxes to Beijing Govt ? They pay 2 set of taxes ?

All US expats pay double taxes - one to the country they work in, and second to the US IRA. These taxes are automatically deducted by payroll in American MNCs abroad, including SIngapore
 
u.s. workers abroad have foreign earnings tax exemption of $120k. don’t know amount for tiongcock.
 
Some solutions:

1) Shut down the business.

2) Sell the business to the USA.

3) Assassinate Xi Jinping.

Otherwise this nonsense is only going to escalate. Delay the choice, and eventually China becomes a genuine North Korea 2.0. :cool:
