Singaporean tourists injured in Patong hotel altercation
PHUKET: An ugly alteraction between two Singaporean tourists and a hotel security guard in Patong yesterday (Aug 15) saw all three injured and hospitalised.

PHUKET: An ugly alteraction between two Singaporean tourists and a hotel security guard in Patong yesterday (Aug 15) saw all three injured and hospitalised.

The incident occurred at the Patong Bay Residence Hotel where, according to hotel officials, the two tourists had tried to avoid check out when leaving which saw the security guard’s intervention and the subsequent skirmish.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Phongpipat Khamchumphu, Deputy Superintendent of investigation at Patong Police Station, was notified of the fracas around 4:45am yesterday morning, before referring the case to Patong Police Station superintendent Pol Col Chalermchai Hirsawat who advanced to the scene where he was joined by representatives from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation.

On the pavement outside the hotel they discovered the two Singaporean tourists sitting on the floor with blood on their face and clothes. The two were identified as 21-year-old Clifton Lau and 22-year-old Nigel Tey.

Sitting nearby was the security guard, Suphawut Chaladchalam, who had also sustained injuries.

Following initial questioning by police, Mr Suphawut said that the two tourists had tried to leave the hotel without completing the obligatory check-out process to ensure all bills had been settled.

Mr Suphawut explained that he intervened and attempted to disuade the Singaporean duo, advising them to return to the hotel and complete the necessary process to ensure a correct check-out.

However, Mr Suphawut claimed that one of the Singaporeans then punched him and smashed a bottle into Mr Suphawut’s back, before Mr Suphawut retaliated by throwing several punches at the duo.

Members from the Kusoldharm Foundation took all three men to Patong Hospital to undergo treatment for their wounds, while police confirmed investigations are ongoing to determine what exactly happened and whether any charges will be raised.

I have always said numerous times that NS is a joke and a total waste of time. Nevertheless I am so happy that Sinkies got whacked when they are overseas. Definitely a time to celebrate.
