I stay near the Johor Art Gallery. It is towards the direction of Thistle Hotel from JB CIQ. Not a common choice among Singaporeans.

I have been a daily commuter for 23 years. My current place from JB CIQ is 3 mins, 2 mins+ if i drive very fast. I used to stay at a place 17 mins from CIQ, but the experience was horrible and it lasted for only 1 year before i moved on. A 3-5 mins delay in reaching JB CIQ is a vast difference...

I think your location in JB is not ideal. It sounds like quite a distance from CIQ. For daily commuters it is best to stay as close to checkpoint as possible.
