Cheap trick. If you're really looking at charity as the yardstick, look at each candidate and see what charitable causes they have done (without anyone asking them to).

This is about excessive President pay of $4.5M, read the idea proposed. Look at how Pinky, old fart and woody pays are close to EP and use EP pay check as a ball park figures to justify their pay checks.

$500,000 a year is still alot of money for EP compare to what US President is getting.

Since this is election time, any EP candidates can propose to set aside excessive EP pay to help the poor, nothing wrong with winning more votes. It is up to other EP candidates to follow suit or come up with better ideas to dispense the excessive pay. Election time is about proposals and when PAP can give out 'monies' in the past GEs, why cannot the EP candidates do the same then?

No need to give to charity organisation. EP can personally go out to give cash from his pocket to the poor Ah Pek and Ah Soh picking cans from trashs. Gov cannot stop him from doing so right?

In this case of EP election, can you imagine 'one man' can pisses off the PAP for once if he use this strategy ..... hahahaha

He should also announce that if he is elected as President, he will create a President Charity Fund where he will donate the surplus of his monthly salary, i.e. whatever in excess of the salary of the US President, to this Charity Fund. “While the salary of the President should reflect the President’s high status as the head of state and his critical custodial role as holder of the second key (to the Reserves), it should also take into account the fact that unlike the Prime Minister, he does not have direct executive responsibilities except as they relate to his custodial role.”

Siao liow.... looks like ministers' pay will continue to be an issue in the long run. No hope for justice liow. But thinking back again, although president is not doing frontend direct executive job, he is still duty-bound to keep a watch on the cabinet/govt and has rights of access to all official documents to do his job. Is this responsibility not heavy also? Not to mention some of the documents may be highly classified state secret.
