I went for self defence course...guess my self defence skill was not good..so instructor advised me not to fight back or confront but to use subtle methods to escape to safety

Low crime doesn't mean no crime. No amount of policing, safety and stability can eradicate all crimes.

You can go out alone, just like you can don't buy life insurance. Most probably, nothing will happen.

we are not expecting the SPF to eradicate crime in SG totally. that wld be a too much to ask of the simple SPF.

but is it too much to expect a fat SPF to know that when it failed its duty and a prisoner escaped and SPF was tasked to recapture him, the first thing is to monitor his NOK's homes? it's not unreasonable for singaporeans to expect that from the SPF

and btw, the Home Ministry has not come clean on how Selamat escaped from WDC and got to his bro's home and escaped to MY...if you know the truth, you will know how scandalous it was.

Low crime can remain low crime if the pap brings in only selected foreign workers and not foreigners who have committed crimes from their home countries.

Do you know tt MOM, MHA are not able to confirm that those foreigners approved as new citizens and PRs have been carefully and suitablly vetted and confirmed crime free?

There could be thousands of criminals who have been approved new SG citizens and PRs.

You have to ask ISD and MHA. I'm not sure what happened also that resulted in the successful escape. I'm also not sure why known relatives' and friends' homes weren't monitored, or if they were, how MSK slipped through under the surveillance.

For WKS, Shanmugam and LHL, I can't answer for them. For the direct question to me, yes, I think MSK was quite ingenious to have managed to escape. For ISD lapse, I also agree, no excuse.
