I am currently challenging the directors/management, of running an effective project.. it seems everyone cannot agree on the contingency sum & Union issues.. Everyone likes to have a say.. however, no one wld stick their heads out and provide a formal direction. KNN... This is Australia !!

I tried to stay low profile (& enjoy my family time) .. but has been arrowed to take up the special role.. I was 'grilled' by the Asset Committee for several projects in my dept.. Knn.. the Gantt Chart I produced is self-explanatory.. cbb.. I need to explain the terminology to laymen, while they can sit there and continue asking stupid qns...

Make it or break it.. I am meeting them in the cul-de-sac after this Easter break.. I will return the company car and throw my resignation if I lose

IF... I lose my job... I wonder what should I do...

a) Return to SG and drive a taxi ?
b) Sleep on my couch watching ceiling fan and collect Centrelink benefits
c) Join my son's school as a traffic supervisor directly traffic..for $24.95/hr
d) Sell my million dollar house and enjoy my retirement in M'sia/Thailand ?

Any better options ? I am dying for a change..

- going into properties as sales or rental management agent.
- start your own retail business. (www.alibaba.com has alot of stuffs all over the whole for import/export).
- start own consulting or construction company.

basically, melbourne is alot bigger with a a sizeable asian population, so you should be more viable in businesses that u might want to start.

what about the chicken rice (really food) biz that u mention about? still viable?

Look, you will only lose your job if you are too efficient.
You need to be unSingaporean, meaning to say, you cannot push your way through brute force.
At my former workplace, I hsad an Italian colleague who is a genius in creating "situations" that create consensus among the fatcats/semi-retirees/etc.
I can only refer to WA.
Remember, Perth public service is full of rednecks who will not make decisions.
That is why we find colorful lobbyists like Brian Burke so effective in making things happen. I hope his appeal against the Corruption & Crime Commission succeed.

The Liberal govt is now trying to remove lifetime employment for the state public sector (2nd attempt) - hopefully, this will weed out the brain-dead and the prima donna deadwoods from the system.

But meanwhile, why not enjoy the salaries (if I have stayed on, my salary band would have reached $100,000 for doing nothing!!!) offered to you and take your tax-payer sponsored fleet car to play golf during office hours. Remember, in public sector, only those in Level 3-7 are doing the REAL work. Unless you are bored with that too.

Yes, chicken rice is ongoing.. making amendment submission now.. chicken in Mel also producing result.. almost all chickens in Melbourne fetch a good price in Auction.. In May, I'm heading down to GuangZhou.. hopefully can bring in more fabricated chickens As usual, I will be f**king busy... until i call it quit:p

Knn.. my management don't understand Project plan and Budget & Forecast.. Pengz.. They ask me stupid qns i.e. why I plan for next 10yrs.. instead of 1-2yrs ? They ask is it realistic ? Ahhh...

Knn.. One single development (from acquisition -> planning -> construction) will take 4yrs.. knn.. 1-2yrs plan, how to plan ? where's the continuity of activities ? cb... I am running outta patience...

they are not trained to think long term and on a larger scale.

real chicken rice would be good, learn from bishan st12 chicken rice boss and u can your very own stall.. but of course u have to cook it yourself, then find someone that u can pass your skill on, then generate a healthy income for 1-2 years, then sell it off at $200-300k...

remember that vietnamese stall in inala that we went to eat previously? it just changed hand and the owner earned $300k in pure profits.

and this has become A business model that i knew some are doing; buy over an asian eatery shop, boost the business up, and then sell it off for profits after a year later. and these people escaped from viet previously with no education!

In 1995, 99% of the world knew absolutely nothing about the internet and that included ME!

By early 1997, I could construct websites from scratch. The best source of information was the internet itself.

Fast forward to 2010 and you don't have to learn html, javascript, MySQL etc anymore. Building a website is like making a cup of instant coffee. Just google "CMS" and you'll be up and running in next to no time.

Remember to host your site with a host that provides "fantastico" as part of the hosting package. It provides ready made scripts for e-commerce, credit card processing, forums, database management, email marketing etc.

PS: Don't get any mates involved. You don't need them. A small profitable e-commerce site can be run single handedly. Getting other parties involved simply complicates matters when you start earning some serious money. If you do need help in a particular area, just subcontract the task to a freelancer.
