I recommend walking along Soi 6/1 in Pattaya. It's more of an alley than a road.

You are right to a certain extent. After all, that's what they are expected to do anyway. Hence they do enough of it such that they won't have to face a revolution. To further support your point, most sinkies are also grateful for the clean and safe environment we live in, despite being opposition voters. On the flipside, oh gawd I really don't want to get into that.
