Look at this issue in the proper perspective. When the parents of the same sex adopt a child, does it amount to incest when one of them or both of them decide to screw that child to make him become a gay too when he grows up?

society norms are subjective and change with time. slavery was the norm 100s years of ago, but no more. suffragettes were the pariahs of the 19th century as they fought for the right of women to vote. prohibition in the USA in the 19th century saw the outright ban of alcohol.

Before we discuss about changes to society norms, let's take a closer look at why such norms were formulated.

Man is the only living creature to break away from the law of the jungle (where it's survival of the fittest in physical term). Society norms were none other than practices that have been identified and accepted by the majority of mankind over the years, for the protection of the weak and the betterment of life. Some norms become rules and laws which are punishable if broken.

These norms evolved, but the changes were centered mainly for greater equality. I believe it is with this in mind that gays are fighting for acceptance now.

However, there is a distinct difference between fighting for acceptance and PROMOTING gay way of life. To the gay community, a book for children on gay family is simply to gain greater acceptance by exposing them to it since young. They may not realise that in a way, it is promoting gay life style. Some felt that how can gay life style be promoted if only those born gay will embrace it? The problem is, gay can be cultivated. Innocent young boys, if exposed to homosexuality will become 'gay'!

Next, I was pondering over whether is there really any ills in having more gay family units. If the gays confine their partner strictly to his "spouse", there isn't really a big issue. In fact, it may be good for countries with problem of overpopulation to promote gay family units so as to reduce population growth. The only difference from a normal family is the missing children and family linkage for the future generation. How that will impact the society is debatable. Children is usually the bond that holds a family unit together. Without this link, there may be a greater tendency for gay partners to stray and have multiple sex partners that give rise to problem of disease transmission.

I view the current issue not so much with the acceptance of gay marriage but more with the agenda to cultivate more gays. Our civilised world is not controlled by man of greatest physical strength but by man with the wit to gain acceptance from the majority. To gain control, a leader need to enlarge his pool of followers. Like it or not, there will be gays who aspire to take over control just like the other religious or political leaders. It is this aspect that that I am wary, because gay can be cultivated and it is not nature's way of life.

Research has shown that straightness or gayness is hardwired into the foetal brain by hormonal changes in the womb. It is very difficult, if not impossible to make a gay guy straight or a straight guy gay by 'cultivation'. If that were the case, since about 6% of the population is gay, then being exposed to the straight culture/propaganda/cultivation of the 94% straight ppl would have converted the 6% gay ppl a long time ago! Why have gay people continued to exist over thousands of years as a small minority in all cultures and nations?

If 94% hetero can't convert 6% homo, what chance do you think the 6% homo have of converting the 94% hetero? The gays should be more fearful of straight people cultivating them than vice versa!

I've known guys and girls (friends) who have had some homosexual experimentation in their teen years, but they eventually straightened out. I've also know gay friends who tried dating girls and even getting engaged, but eventually outed themselves as gay.

By your logic, heterosexual couples without children (by choice or otherwise) are also a problem which will impact on society and lead to disease transmission? Should we then criminalize childless heterosexual couples?

Society norms often don't churn out consistent outcomes for a simple reason - society is made up of many people. Hence, it differs from the individual to a group to different countries.

During uni years, we had close a friend who thinks it is alright for someone to marry his sister. He had a pretty sister - we all found her pretty (plus nice figure) even he who rightfully shouldn't since he grew up with her. In fact he seemed fond of her though he never said it.

One fine afternoon, he drooled over his story about how his sister lifted up her blouse too high and wasn't wearing a bra. On another afternoon his story was more shocking to some of our clique.
