My car ended up in the Maxwell road car pound so many times that I became friends with the SGT in charge of the place. This helped considerably. I won't say too much. He might still be around although I doubt he's still with the force.

Woot ! And Jurong Drive-in Cinema too ! I put double spacer on my Mini Cooper so the wheel extended and looks like spider and we race those Toyota Celicas it was Death race on the roads at those time, lots of accidents. One day my entire wheel came off and i spin in the middle of the road luckily no cars were near.

I always thought Somerset Jazz bar was owned by the hotel. That was the place I learnt to appreciate jazz and at that time, I believe it was the best jazz in town with damn good jazz bands from Chicago and New Orleans. One for one during happy hours and they will serve you good quality snacks from the hotel. I think the crowd died down after they switch to a half fark local jazz band. I have not found a better jazz bar since then.
Yes. The capitol place was next to the SCCCI....near MPH. Alley that lead to the open space all fill with hawker stalls......my favourite was hainanese sweet sour pork chop.......the carpark then was the only one in singapore that had a lift.

Dynasty even opened a branch at East Coast big splash at one point....that was why they renamed one as Dynasty Classic to differentiate between the 2 joints.
Somerset I remembered was tucked in one corner at the 2 or 3 storey of the hotel......drinks menu was made to like looked like a passport....customers like to swipe it as souvenir.
Yes Somerset was tucked in one corner near the Jap restaurant. Now I remember something interesting about the toilet that was near to the bar. The toilet was the 'meeting point' for gays. They will loiter in and around the toilet, and will pretend to pee/wash their hand when they were in fact looking for targets or looking at your cock. Some will carry mineral water bottles to identify themselves. The aunty washing the toilet always complain that it was damn dirty - full of used condoms. My friend and his gang of futures traders used to frequent that bar and bash up gays in the toilets. The gay situation got so bad that at one time, the hotel put a desk and station 2 staff outside the toilet.
My favourite food from Tong Chai hawker are - fried oyster and ngor hiang both stalls use or-peh leaves for packing.
Nightlife - Saint Marco Restaurant & London Club Disco at Marco Polo Hotel, Kanako Japanese Restaurant at Goodwood Hotel, Tiara Supper Club at Shangri La and Chinoiserie Disco at Grand Hyatt and occasionally Golden Million Nightclub.
Getaway - Weekend deep-sea fishing at Pulau Aur, Malaysia or International waters off Indonesia, scuba diving at Tioman or weekend sex orgy in 60 footer cruiser at seas off Connie Island, Southern Islands or Horsburgh Lighthouse.
Supper - Taiwan porridge at Gold Leaf Restaurant, Orchard Rd or coffee house at Goodwood Park Hotel or local foods at Mandarin Hotel Chatter Box.

Forgot to mention another favourite haunt - Grand Hyatt Oasis Health Centre and Gymnasium.
Even old fart also went there one day to check out the new gym equipments brought in by the Hotel.
