LKY has done a few things for Singapore.

His most notable is transforming Singapore into a garden city through his conscious effort, during the development years, to plant tropical trees of all varieties along the streets and roads.

In China, it is written in their geography textbooks and all the kids know that Singapore is a 花园城市. Credit to LKY.

But I wouldn't call him a national hero, he hasn't done anything really positively outstanding....... but more like, National Gardener ?
