The leaders will be sent back immediately while the rest will not have their contracts renewed. All of them will be replaced very soon.

Unfortunately for these clueless PRCs, they will be punished. These PRCs are the weirdest persons on earth, always asking for "rights". They come to Singapore because of a good deal. They get $1100 a month before OT. That's almost 6000RMB. I do not know how much they have to fork out for living expenses but these are damn good money, even graduates also dun get that kind of money.

They like Singapore and yet when they are here, they want to change this place into China.

:smile:Reading the S Times and viewing CNA - where got "strikes" leh?
They do not report for work but where got strikes?
Do not forget that strikes are illegal in Singapore.
Surely PRC workers never go on strikes - they just stop work or do other things not to work - but strike - never!

But..., but Tiong drivers are on lower wages. Surely a profitable public transport company is for the benefit of all, especially the shareholders?

The problem now is PRC drivers want to be paid the same as Malaysians. So whether you PRC or Malaysian drivers, you are not going to make more profit.

In conclusion, I would like to say that it would be interesting to see the events that would unfold. They are:

1. How would the govt now take action against these strikers, who have transgressed the law. If none is taken, or if inadequate action is taken, that would signal that future strikes can be staged to the detriment of Singapore's economy with impunity or little punitive action.

2. The govt and many companies will have to take a hard relook at its strategy in employing cheap foreign labour.

Good luck to the PAPpies on this one. It is a pain of their own making.

Thats the problem whne people complain about bus fare increases. SMRT need to cut cost.

It already did by cutting down on essential maintenance and going for cheap and unreliable non-QCed cable ties and third world manufactured generators.

After this incident, I felt unsafe taking bus driven by PRC driver. What if they suddently gone crazy, took a loadful of bus passengers and crashed into a building bringing with them all the innocent lives? Gosh!!! I wouldn't want to discount such possibilities given that foreigners are capable of being brutal than most Singaporeans.

The long term solution is for you to pay more for fares so that they can pay the drivers decently.

Ya, cut cost to feed the big fat cat holding management position. Did the CEO draw millions of yearly salary? Saw phiak hwa can easily afford ferrari and drove another car. She felt, she deserved to be paid handsomely while passenger can choose not to board a crowded train. Where is fairness, PRC is fighting hard now and I love their guts that PAP has been kissing all these years. I find this episode very very exciting. Hope to see such saga resurfaced in the next election.

The PAP have dealt with the likes of the HOCK LEE bus riots before, the old man's 50 years series databank would have provided the solution.

PRC bus drivers who dare to strike could have their work permits cancelled, deported ASAP and blacklisted from reentering permanently.

Can always hire other FT bus drivers; Myanmar, Viets, Laos etc.

They know our PAP is a weak foreign-kissing-ass party, so these PRC fear not even though they know they can't draw similar salary back home. So they decided that exerting pressure on PAP might get a good returns. Wow!!! Singaporeans should learn from them. Mass and unity are bane to PAP. Let's skinned our eyes and watch the development closely.

It will be one problems after another because SMRT and Temasek linked companies are cheapskate companies.
I love to see more such happenings taking place until PAP wake up and realised they dug their grave too deep. This is the reason why Singaporeans have been crying foul which PAP pay no heed to. I have every reason to be happy if it spread across island wide and shove right into Lee Hisen Loon's ass.

Likely to be like this, simple and clean. "Kill one to warn hundred".
And also to dismiss one or two SMRT management staff, the sway will have to the "eat the dead cat".

Here in Singapore, even if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, as long as the top hasnt called it a duck, it is still not a duck. And it can go on quacking and shitting. As long as the top has not called it a duck, nobody - the police, the AG, the media - dares to do so. By ducking the issue, they dont have to paint themselves into a corner.
