So surprised that my Club dont sell pork satay..

Does your club serve alcohol? If it doesn't, might as well join another club.

Cheers!

Yes bro..but what piss me off is this satay issue; which is the Club's latest food counter..of course i can always order something else.

Actually nowadays there is vegetarian everything. There are stalls selling vegetarian satay and otah at the Circuit Road hawker centre.

My only problem with this trend is when those who claim vegetarianism for religious reasons desire to and do eat vegetarian versions of meat-based dishes. That is nothing if not pure hypocrisy!

Agree with you on your last para totally. There was infact an old thread started by me on this subject..

Most private clubs in Singapore have pretty good food, and and at good prices too, and no parking concerns like public places. If there is a large enough number of members who will order pork satay, then it is a good idea for the members to suggest to the committee who can bring it up to the kitchen's management. I don't think it will be troublesome for their inventory, only thing to add could be the pineapple/peanut sauce. For me, it has come to the time to take it easy on food, too many friends have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high uric acid, damn, only thing now safe to eat is the tossed salad with a light dressing.

Cheers!

My take on why some clubs do away with pork satay rest mainly on one factor: Profitability.
Weight for weight pork are perhaps 3x more expensive than chicken; besides the religion aspect of it..
Oh bro, do you not know that ceratin salad dressings are damned sinful too..mayo stands out as Number One!

The waiters and waitresses can not touch pork

Sidetrack abit....anyone hired indo maids before that the agency claimed that they dun eat pork but can handle pork? Are these maids Muslims or what?

then what about supermarkets selling ham?

Once in cold storage a cashier presumably Muslim called her colleague over to serve me instead pointing to the pork items I purchased.....but only that one incident

got oso encountered a cashier who din even wanna touch a can of beer wif her hand ...

my muslim friends drink alcohol and eat pork.
some even keep dogs.

Pork is dirty meat for good reasons. Pigs are scavengers that will even eat their own shit.
Its best to cut out pork from your diet.

Not only the pigs, how about the chickens, the ducks , the geese...& so forth.. they scratch the soil & pick up whatever...ok! now they live in terraces..the list goes on... we eat in faith!.

There was a reason in the Old Testament time, that pork is not to be eaten, so were seafood...and so forth...

Chickens don't eat their own shits. Pigs do.
So avoid pork and seafood without scales and gills cos these are dirty meat.

My best friend Ah Yeo swears by not eating that end's bit of any bbq chicken wings; because according to him, these are the instruments where chickens used them to dig and cleanse their ka-chng !
Knowing him as an ex-kampong boy, i have also avoided that part since his stark revelations..

Have you ever reared CHICKENS?? If we were to list what animals we can't eat....we will not be eating meat at all..then again not all vegetables are good too..the key is to eat in moderation & carefully..

Yes I do, chickens pick the floor selectively, they don't eat shits.

They don't, they shit, where they eat.. hmmm ok we don't argue over this...just eat moderately & carefully..and food we know that will harm our health, we avoid..even if it is pork!

Why are they then able to sell beef, mutton & chicken satays; but no pork satays ?..:*:
When i asked our Club's Dy Manager, all the answer i got was; Muslims' dont consume pork..
If that's the line taken, then how about the Hindus, Buddhists etcc..cant understand why the leeway..
SILLY GUY. SATAY IS A MALAY FOOD. You wont find halal bak kut teh because it is chinese food.
By the way, most service industries are complying with minority requirement and stop serving beef and pork. I think aisaisa could be one such airline. just not worth the hassle. Even hospitals are doing this.

They mAY BE MALAY BUT THEY ARE NOT MUSLIMS.

It is interesting you said this because a lot of Malays I know over the years always say that if you are born Malay, then you have to be a Muslim. That is why the very rare and small group of Malays who choose to become Christian or follow other religions always get ostracized by their own Malay community and treated like outcasts. How do you explain that in the light of your statement?

I know a few of these Malay Christians. They all have sad stories of being kicked out of the family.
