The shoes were several years old & I only wore them on special occasions, but one does not expect a shoe incident like that:biggrin:

i only buy the soft leathery slip-on dress shoes from clarks. multi-purpose use when i travel alot. don't like packing another pair of shoes in the carry-on luggage. spare shoes use up too much space.

Bro you know why ?; the rubber under the soLes had 'died' or hardened, which rendered it unstretchabLe, due the
years of inactivity on your part.
Have a simiLiar embarrassing situation when the soLes of my unsed TimberLand give way when we Landed at the
LA internationaL airport a few years ago.Was Lugging the baggages with onLy a pair of sLippers then.:o:wink:

Maybe, but I did read complaints from other customers about quality issues with Clarks. Heard of similar complaints about Nike.

I had a spare pair of Timberland shoes which I rarely used & when I did use them the sole came off:(. However Timberland shoes are constructed differently. Even without the rubber sole you still have a shoe bottom, something like a moccasin. I took it to a cobbler to have a new sole glued on but it didn't hold. A few months latter I had to throw it away when the new sole came off.

I am now using a Timberland shoe I got from Amazon. Paid only US$99 for it. In Spore the same shoe would cost $239. I've used Timberland shoes for years & the quality is still there. On the other hand have seen the quality of other shoe brand go downhill. Used to wear Rockports when they were premium shoes. They were even more comfortable & lasting than Timberland. Unfortunately nowadays Rockport shoes are like cheap plastic shoes.

You were lucky because In LA there are plenty of stores.

When travelling the only spare I have is a pair of very light flip flops for use in the shower.

Clarks is comfy, so is Hush Puppies (same league in comfort, quality/pricing). Lasting, unlike other italian makes with uneven wear on soles in no time.

Pay a bit more for Ecco shoes, good quality and outlast my heavy wear for years

Boxers? Airy, not constrictive on family jewels:p

I've tried Hush Puppies. They were very comfortable but the soles aren't very durable. After a year the wear is very obvious. For me it's a waste to throw a pair of shoes after only 1 year.

I like the cotton boxers sold at roadside stalls in Bangkok. They are cheap & comfortable.

I go for quality. Some brand quality suck. Eg. Levi denim jean and shirt.
20 year ago quality is really good wear for 10 year also no problem.
Now new produce can not last for 2 year. That why no more Levi's for me.

For shoe. Comfort more important. Hush Puppies and Scholl. Price on reasonable for quality product.
