Woman gets probation for obscene acts with girl

A YOUNG woman who committed an obscene act on two occasions with a girl aged about 12 was placed on 24 months' split probation on Monday.

The 21-year-old woman, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, had admitted to the two charges committed in November 2008 and February 2009.

The accused, then 20 and an arts student, became acquainted with the victim through the latter's classmate in November 2007.

The pair met at the victim's birthday party in late 2007 and entered into into a homosexual relationship about two months later.

The accused would fetch the victim from school when her mother was unable to do so; hug and kiss each other on the bus when there was no one around.

Sometime in November 2008, they went to a staircase landing of a carpark where the accused committed the obscene act.

Woman sentenced for performing sexual acts on underage girl

SINGAPORE: A 22-year-old woman has been sentenced to 24 months' probation and 150 hours of community service for performing sexual acts on an underage girl.

The woman, who is a student, cannot be named to protect the girl's identity.

The woman had pleaded guilty on March 16 to two counts of committing an obscene act with a child.

She performed the acts on the then 13-year-old girl with her consent in 2008 and 2009.

Investigations revealed that the woman and the girl were acquainted through the girl's schoolmate in November 2007.

They became good friends and entered into a relationship about two months later.

According to court documents, the woman first committed the act on the girl in November 2008 at a staircase landing of a multi-storey car park.

Three months later, she performed a similar act on the girl in a room at Siloso Beach Resort in Sentosa.

The girl's mother soon learnt about her daughter's relationship with the woman and alerted the authorities.

District Judge Low Wee Ping said the woman will have to attend programmes to "address her sexual offending behavior".

In addition, her parents have to post a bond of S$4,000 to ensure her good behaviour.
