There are basically Two ends of Moral Character Spectrum in this world...
Me thinks from a Christian POV (or any other mainstream Abrahamic religion for that matter) that there are basically 2 types of people: one for whom God is always their master, and the 2nd who think God is their servant(/slave)/ Idol to buy(/throw away)/ can be made to dissapper(/shut eyes) on command.
When met with an instance of seeing someone fall down, the first type of person will rush to pick the fallen down one up, because he knows that God is always watching (rewards in a special way all good deeds etc etc), but the second type will rush to enrich himself by stealing the possessions of the fallen down person for immediate gratification (he thinks he has power to decide what God can/cannot see/ control what God thinks...).
It is of course a spectrum: some notice nothing because they have such weak eyes due to illness/ old age, others whose faith changes like wind direction, but the fact remains: there are basically 2 types of moral character in this world at 2 ends of a spectrum; so one must decide if one wants to be the first (good, God respecting/ loving type). By default, one most likely becomes nearer the 2nd (morally bad) type in varying degree: at worst: is worse than an animal since an animal usually only grabs what just its stomach needs, but a greedy human will grab in huge excess of what his stomach needs, but also what his other many greedy/ twisted desires he might want to fulfill ($, power, saddism etc n what have you..): e.g. Hitler/ some other nefarious/ insane dictator: since someone who treats God in such a way by definition, believes he has to infinite power over all others.
Of course one's cornerstone for such morals is important, and I might add, that besides the good deeds of Mother Theresa, Ghandi and Nelson Mandela, Jesus Christ remains the most time tested perfect example.
