Teens charged with armed robbery

TWO youths were charged in court on Thursday with armed robbery with hurt in Sembawang.
Benny Kee Soon Chuan and Dane Tok Jun Wei, both 17 and students, are alleged to have robbed a 16-year-old student of his $230 mobile phone at knifepoint, slashing him twice on the forearm near Block 501B Wellington Circle at about 7.30pm on Tuesday.
Both were remanded at Ang Mo Kio police division for a week for further investigation.
If convicted, they can each be jailed for up to 20 years and given not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
