A TUITION teacher accused of running away with a 17-year-old student has been arrested on charges of kidnapping in Madurai.
His distraught wife set herself on fire and died, reported Tamil Nesan.
It was reported that P. Rajkumar, 40, from Jaipuram runs a tuition centre where he allegedly had an affair with one of his students.
They both went missing last Friday and the girl’s father lodged a police report. Police then questioned Rajkumar’s wife, Kala, on his whereabouts.
Distraught, Kala returned home after the questioning on Monday and set herself on fire. She died due to severe burns.
Police said Rajkumar was arrested on kidnapping charges and has been remanded.
