Taipei is the ninth best city in the world for nightlife, according to the results of a survey released by Agoda, a leading online service for hotel reservations worldwide.

Two other cities in Taiwan, Taichung and Kaohsiung, also made Agoda's list of the world's top 25 cities for going out in the evening. Taichung in central Taiwan was ranked the 19th best city for nightlife and the southern port city of Kaohsiung was ranked 23rd.

Agoda Taiwan office said Friday that the rankings were compiled based on feedback from over 113,000 respondents after visits to the cities. Agoda's customers were asked to rate the nightlife in various cities on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being poor and 5 being excellent.

Some respondents said Taipei is a fun city with many interesting places for dining, dancing, clubbing and even late night shopping.

Bangkok, Thailand's vibrant capital known for its tuk-tuk cab service, colorful temples and street food, emerged as the world's best city for nightlife, according to the Agoda poll.

The glittering desert city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates was second, followed by Boracay/Caticlan in the Philippines with its white sand beaches and swaying palm trees.

Rounding out the top 10 list were the Thai seaside resort of Pattaya; Japan's neon-lit capital of Tokyo; the largest Thai island of Phuket; Hong Kong, known for its world-class food; Macau, famous for its massive casinos; Taiwan's modern capital of Taipei; and the Indonesian island paradise of Bali.
