SINGAPORE: A blind man has been sentenced to six months' jail for molesting a teenager who offered to help him cross the road.
Ramli Salleh, 39, took advantage of the 14-year-old teen, who offered to help him when the teen saw him standing at a traffic junction in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 at about 10pm in September 2012.
The accused told him he wanted to go to the washroom. So, the teenager brought him to a toilet at a coffeeshop nearby.
Ramli dragged the teen into the toilet cubicle, and touched and rubbed his face on the teen's groin.
In mitigation, Ramli, who was not represented, told the district judge that he is blind and that he will leave his fate in the judge's hands.
The court also heard that Ramli has a sexually-transmitted disease.
Ramli could have been jailed up to two years, fined and caned.
