SINGAPORE: A 50-year-old woman was found dead, lying in a pool of blood on Wednesday morning in a flat at Block 5 Yung Ping Road in the Jurong area.
Ms Loh Nyuk Moi had four stab wounds on her chest when her family members found her lifeless body in the kitchen at her former home.
Police were alerted at around 9am and she was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.
They have classified the case as murder.
Ms Loh, who is unmarried, had apparently left her new flat a few days ago and did not come home.
Police said she was reported missing on Monday.
A man, who identified himself as her brother-in-law told MediaCorp that her loved ones decided to look for her at their former home.
The man, who declined to give his name, said it was Ms Loh's brother who found her lying motionless on the floor.
He said: "It was at around eight plus. He pushed opened the door and she was lying inside. She was bleeding profusely from her wounds".
The man also said Ms Loh's valuables were not found anywhere near her body.
"Whatever she had was missing; items like her purse, her IC and cash," he said.
Ms Loh had moved out of her Yung Ping Road flat and was living with her family at another unit at nearby Kang Ching Road.
Block 5 as well as the neighbouring Block 6 had been mostly vacated because they had been identified for the Selective En-bloc Redevelopment Scheme back in March 2006.
MediaCorp understands that Ms Loh had no history of mental problems and she had not displayed any suicidal tendencies before her death.
It is currently unknown why she could have possibly returned to her old neighbourhood.
Police are investigating.
