<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A SECURITY guard who torched a private investigators company was jailed for five months on Friday for mischief by fire. Ngoo Boon Huat, 46, pleaded guilty in a Community Court to setting fire to Interlock Security and Investigation Services office at Golden Mile Complex at Beach Road on Jan 10 this year. The court heard that he turned up that Sunday afternoon and poured a can of thinner on the main door of the office. He then used a lighter together with a piece of cloth and started a fire. The total damage caused was $12,295. An Institute of Mental Health report stated that Ngoo was suffering from chronic schizophrenia, a mental illness he had had for the past 10 years. No reason was given in court why he set fire to the premises. He could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined for the offence.
