GEORGE TOWN, MALAYSIA - Six Indonesian women, believed to be runaway maids, were detained at a massage parlour in Sungai Dua during a raid by the state Immigration Depart'ment.
The six, aged between 20 and 45, were about to close the premises when enforcement officers raided the place at about 8pm on Tuesday.

Department enforcement chief Abdul Rahman Hassan said 10 Thai women with social visit passes and an Indian national parking attendant, who did not have valid travel documents, were also detained.
'We are contacting the maids' employers to record their statements,' he said. 'We want to know if they are runaway maids who came to the parlour to work illegally or their status as maids was just a camouflage to work at the outlet.'

Abdul Rahman said the team also rounded up 25 other illegals in other parts of the island. 'We detained five Indian nationals and a Myanmar at a food court in Jelutong. Three other Indonesians, a Thai and five Bangladeshis were detained at Tamil Street in another operation,' he said.

Following a tip-off, the authorities raided two houses in Weld Quay where four Indonesian women and six Bangladeshi men were found without valid travel documents. All were brought to the Juru immigration detention facility, pending further investigations.
