Probation for underage sex

A YOUTH was ordered to undergo 30 months' probation on Monday for having sex with two underage girls. Full-time national serviceman Nur Tajuddin Abdul Rani, 18, had admitted to two charges of having sex with the two girls when they were below 16 at his Hougang flat in 2008. A Community Court heard that he became acquainted with the first girl, a student, at a Residents' Committee corner in Sengkang in March 2008.
When they met the second night at the same place, the girl decided to spend the night at his home where they had sex. In the other case, the court heard that Tajuddin kept in touch with the girl he met at a barbecue at East Coast Park in July that year. Two months later, she went to his home and had unprotected sex. She missed her period the following month and found out she was pregnant. She gave birth to a child last year. Tajuddin could have been jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined for each offence.
