Police investigate man for making false report
SINGAPORE: Police are investigating a 23-year-old man for making a false police report.
The man claimed that he was assaulted and robbed of his mobile phone by a group of unknown men at Tagore Industrial Avenue on July 20 at about 8.30pm.
Police established that the victim had made a false report through follow-up investigations.
Investigations also indicated that the man had filed the report to provide an excuse to a friend who was harassing him to repay a loan.
Police say investigations against the man are ongoing.
The man can be jailed for up to a year and fined up to S$5,000 if found guilty. - CNA/gn
