SINGAPORE - Police have arrested 14 women, aged 23 to 35 years, in the vicinity of Claymore Drive and Orchard Road on May 25, 2013 for their suspected involvement in vice activities.

They were arrested during a six-hour operation which commenced at around 10pm on May 25, 2013.

Carried out jointly by Tanglin Police Division and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the operation is part of on-going enforcement efforts by Police against vice activities. Investigations against the suspects are ongoing.

Any person who contravenes the offences under the provisions of the Women's Charter, Chapter 353, is liable on conviction to a fine of up to a maximum of $10,000, or to imprisonment of up to five years, or both.

Commander of Tanglin Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lu Yeow Lim, commended his officers for the excellent coordination during the operation, adding that the Police will not let up in its efforts to clamp down on such illicit activities. Police take a tough stand against vice-activities. Police will monitor the situation closely and conduct regular enforcement operations against these activities. Should anyone be aware of or encounter such illicit activities, they are advised to report them to the Police without delay so that appropriate action may be taken.
