Nightclub worker found murdered in her apartment

KUALA LUMPUR: A nightclub employee was found murdered with shlash wounds in the kitchen of her rented unit at the Pandan Villa Apartments in Ampang near here Saturday night. The victim, identified as Chia Siok Heng, 32, was slashed several times on the upper part of her body and hands.

She had at least five deep cuts on her chest, neck and hands, said Ampang police chief ACP Abdul Jalil Hassan. He said in the 9pm incident, Chia and a housemate was about to go to work when two men knocked on her door, ordering her to open it by threatening her with a parang. Abdul Jalil told reporters at the scene that Chia opened the door and one of them men entered the unit and ordered Chia's friend to remain silent.

"But she managed to escape and went straight to the police. "The police arrived to find Chia's blood-stained body in the kitchen," he said. Police have yet to find the murder weapon which was believed to have been taken away by the assailants.

He said police did not rule out revenge as the motive because none of Chia's belongings was missing and the house was not ransacked. Abdul Jalil said police recorded a statement from the 23-year-old housemate, who said Chia did not have enemies and had never borrowed money from loan sharks. Chia's body was sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre.
