Motorcyclist jailed for breaking driver's nose in carpark row

SINGAPORE - A 27-year-old motorcyclist broke a driver's nose at a carpark earlier this year, a court heard.
Kathiravan Annamalai, a crane operator, was on Wednesday (June 15) jailed for four weeks after he pleaded guilty to one charge of causing hurt.
A district court heard that Mr Elson Lee Jun Liang, 32, a project engineer, was parking his car at the carpark at Block 154, Serangoon North Avenue 1, at about 8.40pm on Jan 19.
While Mr Lee was reversing the car, Kathiravan rode into the carpark on his Aprilia motorcycle and went past the rear of Mr Lee's vehicle, narrowly avoiding a crash.
Both men then argued over the near-collision.
When Mr Lee tried to take a photo of the motorcycle with his mobile phone, Kathiravan tried to push the phone away.
Kathiravan then punched Mr Lee in the face and the latter pushed him away.
However, Kathiravan continued to punch him.
Kathiravan's relatives, who live nearby, separated the two men and Mr Lee called the police.
He was taken to hospital with a fracture of the nasal bone.
For causing hurt, Kathiravan could have been jailed for two years and fined $5,000.
