Man pins alleged thief down

He saw a man lift his wife’s unattended handbag from the table outside a coffee shop.
The man followed the alleged thief for about 4m and then pounced, pinning him to the ground.
The incident was witnessed by Mr Selvaganatathy, who was having dinner with his sister at the coffee shop at Block 273 Bukit Batok East Avenue 4.
“I saw this ordinary-looking guy being followed by a man. The next thing, I knew he was pinned to the ground,” he said.
Mr Selvaganatathy, 38, a technical officer, filmed part of the May 27 incident on his phone.
The suspect has been arrested. A police spokesman said he is in his 40s and that investigations are ongoing.
