A MAN who grievously hurt a food stall operator by punching him on the nose several times was jailed for nine months on Wednesday. Goh Kim Soon, 56, then a newspaper vendor, admitted to assaulting Mr Tan Hui Shia which resulted in multiple injuries near Geylang Lorong 16 on July 9 last year. A district court heard that Goh went to look for the 49-year-old over a loan which the victim had given to Goh's nephew. A dispute broke out between the duo as Goh told the victim that neither he nor his nephew could repay the loan. During the squabble, Goh punched the victim twice on his nose, causing him to fall backwards and hit the ground. He continued punching him on the nose several times, until the victim became unconscious. Goh then fled. Goh, who has a weapon possession charge considered during his sentencing, could have been jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
