SINGAPORE: A kidney transplant recipient involved in two separate drunken rampages triggered by his marital woes was on Friday jailed six months and fined S$3,500 by a district court.
Forty-eight-year-old Paramjeet Singh hit condominium security guard Abdul Hamid Daud, after Mr Hamid told him not to park his lorry against the flow of traffic at Serangoon Avenue 3 on Sept 1, 2008.
Three passers-by who witnessed the incident attempted to separate the pair.
Paramjeet, a drinks and liquor wholesaler, then asked the trio to hit him.
When they refused, Paramjeet threatened to run them over with his lorry.
Paramjeet then drove haphazardly around the Chiltern Park Condominium, knocking into railings and walls.
He then got out of the lorry and approached the three passers-by in an aggressive manner.
Out of fear, they pinned him down till the police arrived.
A month later, Paramjeet threatened to punch a police officer after the officer arrived to resolve a domestic dispute.
On May 15 last year, he insulted another police officer when she responded to his '999' call.
Pleading for leniency, Paramjeet's lawyer said the offences occurred due to his marital woes.
The lawyer, Kertar Singh, said Paramjeet had suspected his wife to be having an affair with his kidney donor.
Mr Singh who sought probation for his client also said Paramjeet is prepared to compensate the security guard whom he hit, S$500.
But District Judge Roy Neighbour felt probation was not suitable in this case.
He also disqualified Paramjeet from driving for all classes of vehicles for five years.
Paramjeet intends to appeal against his sentence.
