Man arrested for Thomson Road hit-and-run accident

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run accident along Thomson Road on Saturday (Aug 16). A female pedestrian had serious injuries to her head and hand after the accident at 1:55am.

The driver did not stop and fled the scene, and the woman was later sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Police arrested the driver on Friday (Aug 22) and his license was immediately suspended.

An investigation is underway, but for failing to render assistance, the man could face up to a year's jail and a fine of up to S$3,000. In the event of a subsequent conviction for the same charge, the maximum jail term is two years, and the fine, no more than S$5,000.
