SINGAPORE: Two men, believed to be involved in separate murder cases, were handed over by the Malaysian Police to local authorities Friday.

They were caught across the causeway.

The two men have been charged in court with murder Saturday.

Thirty-four-year-old Tan Keng Huat is believed to be involved in a case where a 46-year-old man was stabbed to death at the car park of Block 89 Redhill Close on June 9 last year.
He and an alleged accomplice Tan Tian Tze, are believed to have caused the death of John Vettamooto that day. Keng Huat was on the run for about a year.

The other man charged Saturday is 29-year-old Muhammad Sazali. It's believed he was on the run for some seven years before he was arrested. He was allegedly involved in a fatal attack of a teenager at Clarke Quay on April 17, 2003.

Eighteen-year-old Mohamad Sadik Senin died following an alleged clash with 17 other people at around 3am that day.

Fourteen of them have already been dealt with in court.

One of them is Saifuddin Hanifi, an odd-job labourer who was 28 years old when he was convicted. He was sentenced to two years jail and given three strokes of the cane.

For his role in the crime, another man, Mohammed Asri Mohamed Hanifah, who was then 25 years old was sentenced to 20 months' jail and given three strokes of the cane.

Muhammad and Keng Huat will be back in court next Friday.

Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner Ng Boon Gay has extended his appreciation to the Royal Malaysian Police following these recent arrests, for their close cooperation with the local authorities.
