Jobs in some sectors are given to foreigners because local workers are always complaining that the work is tough and then they claim they are unable to get suitable jobs, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The paper quoted Selangor executive councillor Dr Xavier Jeyakumar as saying that the state government had instructed factories and supermarkets to allocate 60% of their jobs to local workers.

However, he added, many companies were finding it tough to get local manpower.

"Due to this, companies that have invested a lot of money are forced to take in foreigners," he said when opening the fourth annual meeting of the Sri Andalas Hindu Sangam in Klang on Sunday.
