Loan-sharking: 7 held

POLICE have arrested five men and two women for suspected loan-sharking activities over three days. The seven suspects, aged between 20 and 44, were all arrested between Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday, police acted on follow- up investigations and arrested a 24-year-old woman believed to have opened a bank account and given away its personal information to loan sharks.

The next day, a 31-year-old woman and two men aged 29 and 44 were also arrested for similar offences. Later on, the police received a tip-off about a suspicious person in Yishun Street 81. After officers found the 37-year-old and questioned him, he was arrested for allegedly carrying out bank transfers for loan sharks.
