<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A WELL-KNOWN human resource recruitment company was fined a total of $1,000 on Tuesday for giving different length of termination notice in contracts. A representative of Recruit Express admitted to two charges of entering into a contract with an employee, stipulating different length of notice of termination to be given by employer and employee, in 2008. This is the first time that an employer is being charged for such an offence. The court heard that Recruit employed a temporary administrative assistant and a temporary promoter, giving each a different notice period for termination of contract. The employees were required to give four weeks and two weeks of notice respectively, but the company was only required to give them one day notice for termination. Two other charges were taken into consideration against the company, which could have been fined up to $1,000 on each of the proceeded charges.
