Chinese builders attempt to construct underground car park AFTER they finish block of flats

Developers working on a block of flats in China left residents open-mouthed after they began work on an underground car park - when the
building above it was already finished.

Worried that the move endanger lives, one man posted pictures online which show the work underway.

Liang Lung said that he had taken the snaps after seeing diggers move in to excavate a three metre hole in the ground for the new car park.

He said: 'It's obvious that you build the car park and the flats at the same time - they clearly forgot. But digging it now is a recipe for disaster.'

Liang has decided to move out until the building work is finished, and said he hoped the flats would survive the process.

'They will not get it done before the rainy season starts,' he said.

'Who knows what will happen then? I wanted to put these pics online to raise the alarm that they were putting lives at risk.'

China has been hit by a number of scandals in recent years in which high-rise buildings have simply toppled over because of shoddy workmanship
and planning.

In 2009, a newly-built 13-story apartment building in Shanghai fell over without warning, killing a construction worker.
